Boating Season Details
- The boating season runs from mid-April to late October/early November.
- Patrol shifts occur on weeknights and weekends.
- Boat preparation sessions for in service takes place during April.
- Boat haul-out takes place in early November.
- Call outs for emergencies are 24/7 during boating season.
Requirements and Training
To ensure the highest standards and safety, we ask that our volunteers meet the following criteria
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Applicants must have a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) at the time of application.
- A Restricted Operator's Certificate - Maritime (ROC-M) is required for all crew members and can be obtained after joining.
- While T-SAR provides some gear, volunteers are responsible for purchasing additional items.
- Participation in mandatory winter training sessions starts in January/February.
- Commitment to continuous skill enhancement through courses.
- Attendance at two full weekends of Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary(CCGA) Phase training.
